Police say alcohol was not a factor in fatal collision

On Behalf of | Oct 6, 2021 | Wrongful Death |

Just before midnight on a recent Wednesday, a tragedy occurred on a California roadway. A single-vehicle collision resulted in a fatality as well as injuries to several people. Investigators are still working on the case but have so far stated that they do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

No one knows why the vehicle veered off the road

One of the questions investigators want to answer in this case is why the 17-year-old male who was behind the wheel at the time of the crash suddenly veered out of his lane. There were four passengers in his car when he lost control of his steering. The vehicle hit a curb, then struck a nearby light pole and a tree. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Rescuers came upon a tragic scene

The responders who were dispatched to the site of the accident pronounced one of the passengers, a 20-year-old, deceased at the scene. The rescuers set to work transporting the driver and the three remaining passengers to various hospitals for emergency care. They all had suffered severe injuries. There have been no updates provided on their conditions.

The road to recovery can be hard, especially for grieving families

When someone learns that a California collision has resulted in the death of a loved one, the shock of such news can be difficult to bear. Sadly, in many cases, driver negligence is often found to have been the cause of a fatal crash. This type of information intensifies the grief of those who are mourning the loss of a family member. Immediate family members may seek restitution in such situations, by filing a wrongful death claim in a civil court. While nothing can replace the loss of a human life, receiving financial recovery for such a loss can be helpful to a grieving family in many ways.
