Collision resulted in severe injury to highway workers

On Behalf of | Sep 8, 2022 | Motor Vehicle Accidents |

Working in the California construction industry is dangerous, especially for those in highway work zones. Employers are obligated, of course, to provide proper training and equipment to help workers stay as safe as possible. However, driver negligence often causes collisions that result in severe injuries or death to construction workers.

A recent tragedy occurred in Sacramento when two construction workers were traveling in a work vehicle while setting up safety cones on the road. Another vehicle suddenly swerved and struck the work truck. The impact of the crash was devastating.

1 dead, 1 critical

Sadly, one of the workers suffered fatal injuries in the collision. The other worker was transported to a hospital in critical condition. Investigators later stated that they do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in the incident.

Recourse for families who lose loved ones in a collision

If a California collision results in a fatality that was caused by driver negligence, an immediate family member of the victim may file a claim against the driver in civil court. This is also true for a worker who has survived his or her injuries. It is always best to consult with an experienced litigation attorney before heading to court because such claims can be complex and difficult to prove. An attorney can carefully review the details of a case and make recommendations to help a grieving family obtain financial recovery for damages.
